Dear Mr. William Johnson,

My name is Kiana Petty and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to write to you and express my gratitude towards your generous financial aid. I am a sophomore Direct Admit student at the Shidler College of business and am extremely fond of my time studying business so far. I am originally from Marin County, California and am pursuing finance and international business as majors. The more business classes I take, the more majors I find I want to add on thanks to Shidler’s incredible educational environment. I selected Seville, Spain as the location to study abroad in because I am fluent in Spanish and hope to continue my practice of speaking the language as well as study business courses in another country. I also hope to search for new products to buy for my importing business I started six years ago to sponsor a little girl to go to school in Kenya for the last six years. While studying abroad I hope to gain more independence and a greater understanding and love of other countries and their unique cultures. One of my favourite quotes is “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” Words cannot express how grateful I am for your scholarship making this study abroad experience possible to me and many other Shidler students. I look forward to sharing my experiences and what I learn throughout my time away to you and other prospective Shidler students hoping to study abroad to show my thankfulness and inspire others to want to study abroad.
